In explaining its move into the crowdfunding market, NCET2 says too may promising university inventions “remain on the lab shelf because neither the federal government, the states nor the universities provide additional funding to take the discoveries to the larger world.While the expectation is that venture capitalists and angel investors will come in at that stage to help move the research off the shelf, the reality is that these financial investors are not interested in post-research funding either because of the lack of immediate revenues and profits.
