Researchers @ Harvard/MIT developed a model for kidney transplants, which could be fairer/result in longer lives. Crowdsource kidneys next?
The new method uses a data-driven model developed by Nikolaos Trichakis of Harvard Business School and Dimitris Bertsimas and Vivek F. Farias, both of MIT's Sloan School and is meant to help policy designers create the fairest point system based on their selected criteria. In early experiments, the model indicated that, depending on variables, life-year expectancies can be increased by up to 8 percent.
A good idea - but could this be expanded by a crowdsourced donor pool?
