Description
The recordings reside at the Experimental Sound Studio on Chicago’s north side, an outfit that takes matters of sound preservation as seriously as Ritscher himself. Now they’ve started a crowdsourcing campaign, at Kickstarter.com, to transfer and preserve these recordings – which exist in a variety of formats, including cassettes and DAT (digital audio tapes), many of which are in danger of degradation – onto hard drives. Once they’ve completed the transfers, ESS plans to institute “pop-up listening stations” around the city, so that more people might familiarize themselves with this remarkable collection.
