Summary
Over the past few years, crowdfunding has opened up a new investment space for everyday entrepreneurs. Not only does it represent a great opportunity to shape new market dynamics, but it offers a platform for consumers to support projects they care about, and for people with ideas to test and realise them quickly. Crowdfunding is now entering the world of healthcare.
Description
With the crowdfunding market rising from $32 million to $123 million in the past two years, it seems to be the perfect solution to support innovative individuals eager to make a difference to the healthcare industry, whether they are patients, frontline staff or academics.
Thanks for the write up and good piece on the space. We did launch on the 4th of July privately and publicly on the 11th. All is working well and we have finished it looks like six of our first wave of projects will be meeting their goals. The most interesting activity is happening off the site though, driving partnerships and it looks like a few significant investments just in the first month.
Indeed, healthcare is an ideal sector for Crowdsourcing and Crowdfunding. We are reducing the cost of clinical studies as well and helping medical innovations that really matter to people get to market faster. But don't take my word for it, it is my site and I am of course biased. See for yourself at www.MedStrartr.com or read our blog at MedTalkr.com or follow the #HCCF hastag on twitter. We moderate a tweetchat for all Healthcare Crowdfunding folks on Tuesdays at 9 PM EST.
Thank you for doing what you do CrowdSourcing.org!
