Curēus Launches International Medical Poster Competition
Curēus, the medical journal for a NEW generation, today broadens its publishing revolution by introducing an international medical poster competition open to all medical students and residents.
Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) September 13, 2012 -- Curēus, the medical journal for a new generation, today announces its plan to transform the archival and exhibition of scientific posters beginning with a competition. Usually discarded after being presented at a medical conference, posters can now be uploaded to Curēus, with those submitted by October 5 being eligible for The Fall 2012 International Poster Competition. The competition will allow medical and graduate students as well as residents from all over the world to compete in one of 40 categories that include all major medical specialties. Medical posters are generally the earliest expression of new ideas and research that can be a harbinger of important work to come. They are also a key building block for a student’s CV as they prepare for residency programs, fellowships or their first professional assignment. Curēus allows authors to retain and showcase their work as part of their digital CV while having fun competing in a virtual contest. “As with the medical publishing paradigm overall, the system for exhibiting and promoting posters is flawed – posters get shown once and are then forgotten,” said John Adler, MD, Curēus founder and editor-in-chief. “While this competition gives students the chance to win prizes, more importantly publication on Curēus allows the content within posters to be passed on, long after a conference ends.” About the Curēus Poster Competition • Grand Prize - $1000 • Category winners - $100 • 40 winners each for medical student category and resident category • Top three in each category gain recognition on their Curēus profiles • Entrance deadline – October 5 • More details available at www.cureus.com/posters About Curēus Based in Palo Alto, California, Curēus is the medical journal for a new generation.
