Man Behind Bus Monitor Campaign to Crowdfund for ‘Acts of Love’

Max Sidorov, the man who started the Indiegogo campaign that raised over $680,000 for bullied bus monitor Karen Klein, has set the wheels in motion for a new viral philanthropy project called “7 Million Acts of Love.” The project, which Sidorov hopes will be “the largest crowdfunded charity project in the world,” has a goal of raising $7 million to support three social good causes. This time, Sidorov will be working with Klein on the project, as well as Joel Gordon, a film and television director with V-Formation Productions. “I started working on this project with Joel, who contacted me after the [Karen Klein] fundraiser began,” Sidorov told Mashable. “He pitched this idea, I loved it, and we have been working on it for the past few weeks. We then let Karen know, who will be supporting us.” The project aims to support free counseling services and other actionbased projects for children who have been bullied, along with the bullies themselves and their families.

The money that the team raises will also go toward a non-profit TV series called “Love is Moving.” According to Sidorov, the series promotes a selfless understanding of love, and various participants will be featured as they show love for people and the planet. The third project is the development and creation of a global social platform and non-profit organization called LoveDeeder.com (the domain name for which has been registered, but is not yet active). LoveDeeder will allow people around the world to engage with each other while spearheading projects, charities and ideas geared toward communities and the earth. “We decided that these three projects would provide a perfect blend of awareness, direct and powerful action and global reach to impact millions of people,” Sidorov said. During the Klein campaign, some participants were initially concerned about where their donations were going, though it was later confirmed that Klein would in fact receive the money intended for her. With “7 Million Acts of Love,” Sidorov has dispelled such a concern upfront. “The percentages will be fairly split up depending on the needs of each project,” he said. “Since it is all charity and non-profit, the funds won’t be going into our pockets.” The campaign has a tentative launch date for next Monday, July 23, and Sidorov says that the team plans on using Indiegogo as a platform again. “We are [also] planning to set up some really cool flash mob events around the country. Hopefully kindness can become cool,” he said.
