Volvo wants You Inside
August 22nd, 2012 by admin
Volvo has joined car brands Citroen andNissan in turning to the wisdom of the crowd with the launch of a new Facebook app, You Inside. The crowdsourcing application enables fans to post images of the things they keep inside their cars along with info about their vehicles and lifestyles. Volvo analyses the information and delivers a personality profile, with users able to dip into other’s You Inside profiles too. There’s more to this than mere marketing, as data gathered by the app on the social network will also be fed into research for vehicle development at Volvo. “We constantly want to learn more about our customers in order to make better cars and hopefully this Facebook experiment will inspire new Volvo innovations,” says Jesper Andreasson, senior manager of social media at Volvo. “This app exemplifies how consumers’ insights and customer involvement is at the heart of our brand.” Sabine Stork of Thinktank says initiatives such as the Citroen campaign seems a great way of turning brand advocates into enthusiasts and demonstrate that the brand really listens to its customers.
