YouTube is launching an online film festival that will culminate with 10 finalists being sent to the 2012 Venice Film Festival for a chance to win half a million dollars.Entrants for "Your Film Festival," which is sponsored by Emirates airlines, can submit a short, "story-driven" video, up to 15 minutes in length, between Feb. 2 and March 31, YouTube said in a blog post Thursday. The winner of the so-called "global search for the world's best storytellers" will have the opportunity to work on a new film with Ridley Scott, a producer and director behind hits such as American Gangster, Black Hawk Down, and Gladiator, as well as his "world class" production team."Everyone has a story and stories need telling, but the way to tell them is changing," Google-owned YouTube said in a video (below) announcing the contest.
