2,817 crowdsourcing and crowdfunding sites
Crowdsourcing firms make use of the crowd in different ways. Some, like oDesk, Elance, and Amazon Mechanical Turk, recruit workers into a labor pool that other companies can tap into for a variety of tasks. Others, like 99designs and crowdSPRING, connect clients to freelance designers. Others still use crowdsourcing in much more subtle ways – consider, for instance, Waze.
The folks over at Staff.com, who also run the blog Biz3.0, recently put together an infographic comparing a few of the most prominent crowdsourcing platforms – oDesk, Elance, Freelancer, and 99designs. It shows how much funding each has received from investors, the number of workers on each platform, and the amount paid out to workers, among other interesting indicators. The infographic first appeared on the Biz3.0 blog, and we’re posting it here with the authors’ permission.
