Julian Assange has an excellent chance of winning an Australian Senate seat. Unlike the US where each state elects 2 senators, in Australia each state elects 6 senators at each election. Voting is also preferencial, so minor parties can 'give' their votes to others. Last election in Victoria a tiny party (the DLP Democratic Labor Party) won only 2.3% of the vote, but scooped up other small party votes so won. I predict Julian Assange's Wikileaks party could easily do this too.
