It’s turning out to be quite the record-setting day for Kickstarter: in addition to video game developer Double Fine’s adventure project, which raised $1 million USD in a measly 25-hour window, a second project today surpassed the $1 million mark in total funds raised through the crowdfunding platform.
At the time of writing, over 9,987 backers collectively pledge a total of $1,088,347 to build the Elevation iPhone dock. The project’s funding round will expire in 39 hours, but since it passed the $1 million threshold, it will undoubtedly finish strong — not that it needs to do so. Originally, the dock creators asked for $75,000, a meager 7% (or less) of what project creator Casey Hopkins will receive on Saturday.
Project creator Casey Hopkins included a number of enticing perks for project funders: backer benefits range from a dock for those who pledge $59 or more to “reseller” and “distributor” packs for the highest pledges — from $2,000 to $10,000 or more.
