Crowdfunding Adventure, Part Three - The Support System

Editor's Note: Karinna Kittles-Karsten has been keeping a journal of her crowdfunding journey and sharing it with us here on Crowdsourcing.org. In this third entry, she talks about the support system she's created to help her conduct her crowdfunding campaign to support her web TV series, "Love Around the World." Also be sure to have a look at the Karinna's previous entry in which she reveals her platform of choice, and her explanation of why she made the choice to crowdfund.

About 7 weeks ago I started to ask myself, how am I going to run a successful campaign?

After hearing from several people that had their crowdfunding campaigns hit a home run, it was clear this was serious business and a 24/7 endeavor.

So I started asking around, and I started researching on the internet. I called folks, I received referrals, I got suggestions. Crowdfunding support insights, data, and experiences was what I was seeking and subsequently gathered. Carl at crowdsourcing.org provided a lot of valuable guidance. Thanks Carl!

Many successful crowdfunders with campaigns have had their entire production group or project group all jump in and work intensely to make it happen. Some super humans ran their campaigns completely on their own. Others reached out to networks upon networks to achieve success.

While crowdfunding is new to me, I feel like I am somewhat of a veteran with running a campaign. I ran a promotional campaign for a book I wrote a few years ago called Intimate Wisdom, The Sacred Art of Love. The prep time (months) it took to get supportive ambassadors on board to reach the right supporters and actual campaign running time was a lot shorter for the book than it has been for a crowdfunding campaign (only 48 hours), but the sense of performance anxiety is at an all time high.

I learned what to do and what not to do from my book campaign. Making sure to have enough support to make it a success was at the top of the "To Do" list. If, for instance, you have a few people that you are counting on to show up and help and they don’t (that happened to me) your campaign will be more challenged to reach the results you want. It was triple the work!

That lesson taught me to come in with a super support system. In the process of discovering who that might be, I had interviews with various parties, I looked at different opportunities and scenarios, I asked a lot of questions and I made a decision.

Find out more about my support system plan when you watch the video below.

I am excited about the people that make up the support system for the Love Around the World crowdfunding campaign. We have a great group of people who are, as you read, preparing for the launch. Lots to do.

Magic happens when all the right ingredients are there.

Start gathering your support system for a magical and successful crowdfunding campaign.
