President Barack Obama is giving his annual State of the Union speech tonight, starting at 9pm Eastern, and you can be sure the crowd will be commenting, tweeting, and sharing updates about his talking points.
In order to facilitate the discussion, the White House is rolling out a new tool called ‘Citizen Response.’
Citizen Response lets viewers highlight passages from the speech, “tell the President how [they] are connected to that issue, and then share that specific part with [their] friends,” explained Macon Phillips on the White House blog.
It’s not clear exactly who will be reading through the messages, but it seems, at the very least, like a good way to track the issues Americans care about and to gauge their opinions of them. You can preview the tool here, using the text from last year's address.
Make sure to tune in to the State of the Union address later tonight! We’re embedding the enhanced live stream of the speech below, which features graphics and factoids about the President’s talking points.
