There's been some kerfuffle in recent weeks about how Kickstarter handles projects that fail to get funded, revealing that the crowdfunding platform "hides" failed projects behind an unsearchable wall. While this is within Kickstarter's rights to do so, having access to both funded and unsuccessful projects would help paint a more realistic picture of the likely cash return on the investment of time required to set up and promote a project on the platform.
Inspired by the revelation of Kickstarter's hidden failures, Jeanne Pi of AppsBlogger used a sample of over 45,000 Kickstarter projects (failed and funded) to create this infographic that paints a more wholisitic picture of the best-known crowdfunding platform:

I launched my KS documentary last Monday: LICENSE TO PIMP. It's about the choices that 3 San Francisco strippers make when their workplaces engage in illegal labor practices that turn them into brothels.

I wish I had done several things differently but I'm on day 8 of my campaign & just barely hit 11%. The 40% failure rate is very daunting. I hope not to be in that category!
Anyone have suggestions how I can improve the funding factor?

We never got past the gatekeeper. Kickstarter has the largest audience so hard to compete but we used http://indiegogo.com/LumenCache. Opposite problem there in that ANY project is allowed so we just keep sinking in the rank.
