Rumblings of problems with Pebble's ability to meet its own fulfillment deadlines are getting louder. The 85,000 people who collectively chipped in millions to the company's record-setting Kickstarter campaign for a "smart watch" that can sync up with a smartphone are still waiting for the rewards they were promised.
In exchange for donating to the campaign, most backers were expecting to receive one or more of the watches by September. The ninth month has arrived, but Pebble now says they're not sure exactly when they'll be shipping the watches, while at the same time adding new color choices to their lineup.
"As soon as we are 100% confident we can ship by a certain date, we will announce it," reads an entry on Pebble's Kickstarter blog.
A Pebble representative told Inc. that the company will be shipping "soon," and I've reached out to founder Eric Migicovsky for more information. Last we spoke to him was in mid-May, and he told us to expect more news in September.
We'll be sure to update you when we hear more.
