Matter, a Kickstarter-funded New Journalism Project, Launches Today

Matter set out to do more long-form journalism, and they started by turning to Kickstarter to raise funds. After nearly tripling their $50,000 goal, they spent months commissioning stories and building up their platform. Finally, today Matter launched with its first 99 cent long-form science piece.

I spoke to co-founder Jim GIles about the project and the role crowdfunding played in the latest installment of From the Crowd.
