Crowdfunding is gaining traction in many parts of the world, and one of the countries where it seems to have gained a steady foothold is the United Kingdom.
To help spread the word about the phenomenon, London-based crowdfunding platform PleaseFund.Us is getting together with the Big Society Network and Nexters to host UK’s first conference on crowdfunding and social collaboration.
The event will take place on Wednesday, September 26th, from 6pm to 9pm at the Somerset House in London (pictured above). The event is free and open to the public, but since space is limited, all guests need to register here.
From the press release:
Given the recent government cuts there is great need for social collaboration, and with crowdfunding being a relatively new concept in the UK, this is an exciting opportunity to find out more about this revolutionary area of fundraising. Representatives from both PleaseFund.Us and Seedrs will be present, meaning that both equity and non-equity platforms will be explored. Crowdfunding however will just be one of the topics explored during the evening’s proceedings. Industry professionals from Sky Arts, IdeasTap, StartUp Britain and Spacehive will also be leading the open-floor panel discussions.
For those interested in crowdfunding laws in the UK and Europe, Crowdsourcing.org recently spoke with Chris Bates, partner at London-based Clifford Chance LLP, on the subject. Stay tuned for that conversation to go up later this week.
