Webcomic Creator Raises $1.25 million on Kickstarter to Self-Publish Books
Crowdfunding

The Order of the Stick, a webcomic that satirizes role-playing games and medieval fantasy, has drawn a devoted following since its inception in 2003 — but no one, not even comic author and illustrator Rich Burlew, realized the true extent of its fans’ dedication.

Burlew’s just-closed Kickstarter project, The Order of the Stick Reprint Drive, solicited a whopping $1,254,120 from 14,952 backers, exceeding his initial goal of $57,750 more than 21 times over.
