Material fabrication - Binding agents

question Crowd Creativity, Tools
I have been looking into creating products using plastics and fabric. Can anyone here point me the right way what methods are used in fusing plastic and wool, nylon or other fabric that are used in manufacturing today. I have been trying to search on the web but have been unable to find specific information other then just using glue. I was hoping there were other ways available. Any information you could send my way to research this issue further would be appreciated.
