Users then support the lines they like by purchasing a $50 “stake” in any design. If the design earns enough stakes to fund its production, a portion of the proceeds is returned to stakeholders in the form of “clothing credits” that can be redeemed for merchandise sold on the site. During the crowd-funding process, users can vote designs up or down as well as converse with the designer and each other through social media tools.
